It’s not geeky nonsense at all, I’m not likely to need to know it for practical reasons but I’ve seen people doing this on workshops I’ve attended and often wondered exactly what was going on, now I know. I’ve never liked to ask as it clearly involves a lot of concentration! I’m sure even the masters made these mistakes, it’s a steep learning curve, but it certainly looks like you’re getting the hang of it. Thanks for sharing.
I've only used a large format camera a few times and I really can feel your pain! There are so many steps to making an image, and so many things to do wrong. That's all part of the process though and it's such a pure form of photography.

I made another mistake yesterday, I removed the dark slide before closing the shutter!
